The new Balfour hospital is an award winning two storey hospital and healthcare facility located in Kirkwall, on the island of Orkney. For PFP this job provided a large variety of work across multiple trades, the work encompassed within the hospital were British Gypsum partitioning, drylining, MF ceiling systems and Ecophon suspended ceilings as well as all associated taping and decoration works.

Through out the project PFP have installed a total of 96,000m² of plasterboard to form stud partitions and MF ceilings, PFP have also installed 9000m² of Echophon suspended ceilings. Due to the project being off the mainland this provided some challenges in multi-trade materials and labour logistics. With extended lead time, scheduling issues became the most prevalent challenge to counteract this the majority of materials were shipped from the mainland twice a week via Aberdeen.
