In October 2013 PFP embarked on the first phase of a large scale student accommodation project with Balfour Beatty. This new campus in the heart of the capital city is being built in two main phases, the first of which (Holyrood South) is a new postgraduate student residence and was completed in 2014. The second “North” phase is larger and offers students the privacy of en-suite bedrooms as well as common communal areas for socialising. Both form a significant new student facility within the city centre.
PFP have undertaken SFS framing works, Internal Metal Stud Partitioning and Dry Lining, Suspended Ceilings, Hygienic Cladding, Fire Protection, Fire Stopping, Ames Taping and Decoration works on site.
Undertaking multiple packages on this vast project, which is made up of a number of smaller “blocks”, created a challenging work environment. The inner city location also provides limited access and storage facilities so “just in time” deliveries of materials were necessary for the majority of the project. The final North phase is due for completion in 2016.
